Oh, Intern Year.

Tomorrow I’m in charge of the team, because my resident needs a day off once in a while. (Yeah, I know! Totally unreasonable!)

I’ve worked in this hospital for a grand total of three days.

It’s one of the toughest hospitals in the country. It has a weird system. And it’s hard to get stuff done.

My team consists of two sub-interns, only one of whom has at least a little of her stuff together, and a third-year medical student who’s one of those obnoxious future surgeons who walked into medical school thinking he was already a doctor. He refuses to wear his short white coat, because it pegs him as a medical student.

The attending is….unreliable.

We’re accepting the patients from Night Float, which means we get six brand-new patients all at once, on top of our old patients.

I haven’t had a day off for almost two weeks.

Tomorrow will be an interesting day.
